Electricity bills aren’t getting any cheaper, and relying on the grid means you’re at the mercy of ever-changing energy prices.

Solar panels let you take control by generating your own electricity, and then combined with battery storage, let you store it for when you need it, reducing your reliance on expensive energy suppliers. At Leaf Renewables, we make the switch to solar straightforward. There’s no hard sell, no pushy sales reps calling you day and night, and no confusing jargon. Just honest advice, expert installation, and proper aftercare. We’ll walk you through your options, explain how solar can work for your home, and give you a clear, no-obligation quote. If you want to go ahead, we’ll handle everything, from design, grid application, installation to aftercare, ensuring your system runs smoothly for years to come.

How much can you save with solar panels?

A typical solar system can save you over £1,000 a year on your electricity bills.

That means most systems pay for themselves within five to seven years, and after that, those savings go straight into your pocket. With warranties lasting 15 years or more, solar is a long-term investment that continues to pay off. Need help with costs? Frequently asked questions

How much do solar panels and batteries cost?

The cost of your solar installation depends on several factors, including the number of panels you need, the complexity of the installation, and whether you choose to add a battery for energy storage. We’ll assess your needs and property, and give you a clear, no-obligation quote – no nasty surprises or hidden costs!

How long does solar panel installation take?

Most systems are installed in just a couple of days. We handle everything from start to finish, including scaffolding, electrical work, and setup. You’ll know we’re around, but we won’t get in the way or leave a mess.

Where does the battery and inverter go?

Typically, they’re installed in a garage, utility room, or even outside. We’ll help you find the best location for your setup.

What happens in a power cut?

If you have a battery, your system can keep essential appliances running even if the grid goes down. If required, we can also install a backup socket, so you’ll always have access to power when you need it.

How long do solar panels last?

Panels now have a 25-year product and a 30-year performance warranty, however a well-maintained solar panel system will last longer than that.

Will solar panels work in bad weather?

Yes! Solar panels generate electricity even on cloudy days (which is good, living in the UK), though they’re most efficient in direct sunlight. Battery storage means you can use an off peak tariff to offset energy costs regardless of weather - great for our winters!

Do solar panels have to be south facing?

No, solar panels don’t have to be south-facing, but they are most efficient when they are. However, with advancements in solar technology, modern panels have much higher efficiency than older ones, making installation worthwhile in any direction — north, east, south, or west!

How does the electricity make money being sent back to the grid?

Solar panels generate electricity, which you use first, and any excess is sent to the grid. Energy suppliers pay you for each unit (kWh) of electricity exported. The rates vary by supplier, so choosing a good tariff or adding battery storage can maximise your earnings.
